It is believed that the town of Solan is named after the Shoolini Mata or the angered goddess who is an incarnation of Goddess Durga. As per legends, the temple was once an abode of Shoolini Mata herself. The temple is situated at landscape views and is surrounded by marvelous examples of nature’s bounties.

Located on the Jaunaji road, Nauni, Solan this temple is a peaceful place to pray, worship or introspect. The main attraction of this place is the Shoolini Utsav or the Shoolini Fair, a 2 days event held in June. There are strong festive vibes surrounding the region and the night view with jingling lights are just wonderful. The fair involves dancing and singing performances and wrestling. The festival is a great attraction not only for traders, sweet sellers, general merchants, and shopkeepers of neighboring towns but also to the huge tourist population. A huge procession is also conducted carrying Mata’s idol on a Palki with a lot of joy, singing, celebration and festive spirit.
