Suchindram Thanumalayan Temple-A Trip to Tranquility
A prominent pilgrim hotspot near Kanyakumari is the Suchindram Thanumalayan Temple. Suchindram denotes purity when Thanumalayan signifying the Holy Trinity of Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma present here in a single form. You can view Lord Hanuman standing erect as one of the tallest statues in India. The place is ideal for meditation and relaxation.
It is believed that the statue of Hanuman was concealed underground to protect from the attack by Tipu Sultan and recovered later in 1930. You can visit in the month of March and April to see the Masi and Chithirai festival. It is a wonderful architectural delight with sculptures of various deities and the imposing gopuram visible from miles away.
